Makeup of The Day // New Foundation!

Hi Guys,

Another apology is due, I’ve been super busy at work recently but I’m here this weekend!  This is going to be my first impression on a foundation that I’ve had in my draws for a while but haven’t used.  It’s the Benefit Better Than BB cream.  I have it in the shade 01 fair (naturally as I’m pale as a ghost).  The coverage is very light being a BB cream but still covers up the majority of big imperfections.  I’m enjoying using this foundation as I’m finding the weather a little too hot for my double wear.

The foundation goes on as a cream but then turns to a light powder on the skin so doesn’t need much setting, I just set it with some Mac Prep and Prime translucent setting powder in my T zone as I’m oily.

Sorry for my eyebrows… I’m getting them done this week hopefully if my eyebrow stylist can get me in! ๐Ÿ™‚

This is a very simple look using the Naked 3 palette as I’m stuck on the sofa with a pulled back today but wanted to get ready to make myself feel a bit better ๐Ÿ™‚

I hope you are all having a lovely weekend and wherever you are it is sunny and bright!

Cult Beauty Review // Becca Shimmering Skin Perfector // Moonstone

Hi Guys!

Sorry my posts this week have been few and far between, my exam is next week so I’ll be posting a lot more frequently when I’ve gotten past that hurdle!

Today’s post is going to be another installment in the cult beauty product review series, this time is is the Becca Shimmering Skin Perfector in Moonstone.

4

Starting with the packaging:ย  The packaging is lovely, the compact is hand sized with a rubberized exterior and a metal plate on the top.ย  On the inside it has a nice sized mirror which is perfect for highlighter application on the go and whole 8 grams of product.3 2

The highlighter itself is perfect for pale people such as myself, it’s not too overwhelming with undertones, but has a slight champagne one.ย  The product is super creamy and milled super finely so there are no glitter particles in it at all.ย  It feels like quality.ย  The price is a bit steep at ยฃ30 in the UK but depending on how thickly it is applied it should last quite some time.ย  The application is really easy, I use a Real Techniques setting brush (this one) which has been swept across the product super lightly to apply.ย  I find this method better than using a fan brush but I know a lot of people that successfully use fan brushes.

swatch

This swatch doesn’t do the product justice, I loooove the look of it on my skin and it give such a amazing highlight!

Overall I would 100% repurchase this product again and again!ย  Stay tuned for the next post in this season – Estee Lauder Double Wear Foundation!

Vegan Beauty Products // Lush Products!ย

Hi Guys!

Todays post is a little review on a few Lush products that i’ve either had a little while or gotten recently, the one that i’ve had a while is the Mask of Magnaminty which is one of my favorite products from lush as you’ll see below!

As most people know Lush does a lot of amazing projects for the community and enviroment, one of these is that they have a zero tollerance on Animal Testing and most of their products are vegan friendly.

Don’t forget to enter the giveaway that i’m currently running for a Mac Lipstick!

Anyway lets get started with the reviews:

Jason and the Argon Oil – Shampoo Bar

I love shampoo bars from lush, they are so easy to use, don’t take up much storage and they last for up to 80 washes! This is the 2nd Shampoo bar that i’ve tried from Lush and it’s my favorite for sure! It smells lovely and because it is infused with Argon Oil – it makes you hair feel lovely and soft for days after.

Mask of Magnaminty – Face and Body Mask

This is a repurchase of mine – as you can see there isn’t much left in this pot and i’ve been scraping around the bottom trying to get the last bit out before I wash my pot out.  I use this mask once a week to keep ontop of the nasty face demons (spots and blemishes) that plague my skin! It’s such a refreshing scent (you can probably guess it’s minty!) and really wakes you up in the morning.  As it is suitable for the body, if you get any back achne etc it would probably help! ๐Ÿ™‚

Karma Kream – Hand and Body Lotion

This is a really amazing product for me, as a Veterinary Nurse I am always using my hands for work which means that I’m having to wash them every 10minutes or more.  This smells gorgeous and it lasts on the skin rather than just vanishing as soon as you rub it in.  I’ve noticed a massive difference in my hands the past week that i’ve been using it and really recommend it to anyone who works with their hands.

Dark Angels – Face Mask

This facemask is very exfoliating, I do not recommend this to anyone with sensitive skin! I however do not have sensitive skin and love a good exfoliator which I can feel working right down into my pores!  This is a black putty which you add water to to make it into a paste to put onto the face.  I use this once a week in the shower (it’s very messy!!!) and love the way that it makes my skin feel.

Love – Soap

Finally is this bar of soap I got on Saturday (ft. in the haul below)  This smells just like the fizzbanger bath bomb and is lovely! I’m too scared to use this yet as I don’t really want to rub off the glitter (and I want it to still look pretty!) “In 76 countries it is a crime to be gay.  In 10 countries it can cost you your life” this is taken from the Lush Nottingham page.  100% of the proceeds from this soap go towards LGBTQ Communities all around the world to help fight the stigma and hate associated with being ‘gay’.

I hope you enjoyed todays post on my Lush products that i’m currently using, have a bonus kitten from work yesterday! He’s called Harry and is being fostered by one of our other nurses Lucy as they were dumped at only a few weeks old.  She’s doing an amazing job and they are turning into right sweetie pies!! (SO hard to resist!!!)

June Favorites // Makeup, Hair Products and More!

Hi Guys!

I can’t believe it’s this time already, time for my favorites of the month! This means that I’ve been running my blog for a month already, time flies when you’re having fun!

So this month I have mainly beauty products but there are a few bits of both hair products and others so lets start with the makeup! โค

Firstly there is the Anastasia Beverly Hills Liquid Lipstick in Craft, this is the most beautiful coloured lip product that i’ve ever used, so unique! The formulation is so creamy to put on and the larger doe foot applicator makes the application process really easy.  I don’t need to rave any more about this product because I just think it’s wonderful!

Secondly is the Smashbox Photofinish Primer Water, this is another amazing product that i’ve recently done a review on, this is such a refreshing products as it doesn’t leave any film on the skin like any other products that claim to set the product on the skin.  I am really enjoying using the product and find that it really is worthy of its cult beauty item claim!

Next is the Becca Shimmering Skin Perfector in Moonstone, this highlight is LIFE, talk about highlight on fleeeeek.  This is going to be my next product in the Cult Beauty Product reviews but this is such an amazing highlight, I would recommend this shade to any skintones!

Next is a brush set that I got on eBay at the begining of the month, I believe these brushes were under ยฃ2 including delivery.  They did take a while to come as they came from China but they were worth the wait for sure, they are supposed to be a dupe for sigma brushes which are really popular amongst beauty bloggers!  I’m really enjoying using these brushes as they blend the products on the lid wonderfully!

The next product is the Ojon Rare Blend Tamer, this is a hair “mascara” in the sense that it is applied with a mascara wand, this a repurchase of mine as I brought it last year for use at my wedding.  It is gently applied to the roots of the hair where there is ‘flyaway’ hairs and smoothed down, it really helps with my frizz as I have naturally curly hair!

That’s it all done with my beauty favorites of the month, now onto my non beauty related products.

I brought these cat vans yesterday and I am IN LOVE (naturally as i’m cat obsessed!) I have wanted these shoes ever since they came out and when I saw that they were half price at Office, I had to buy them without even trying them on!

Next is this floral bag that my Dad brought me, It’s a really perfect size for carrying my work stuff and college books in with extra room for putting my lunch in! I think this is going to be my staple bag for work this summer! ๐Ÿ˜€

Finally is my veterinary anatomy and physiology text book, yes I know I’m a nerd but I’m really enjoying going through my book for revision every spare moment that I’m getting (when i’m not writing my blog ๐Ÿ˜‰ )  I find that I revise best going through my text book in a local order highlighting key points and quizzing myself as I go along!  I’m sitting my exam on the 16th July (I’m so nervous!!!) so hopefully all my revision will pay off!

Okay so that concludes my favorites for the month, I hope you enjoyed this post!  I’d love to know what your favorites are from this month and/or if you own any of these items yourself!

Haul Time! // Mac, Lush and Office!

Hi Guys

Today I went shopping with my husband to Nottingham to get some bits (although I didn’t come away with what I actually went in for!) I got a few bits from Mac that I have been eyeing up for ages, along with some shoes with are AMAZING!

(Hektor helping me take photos!)

Starting with my shoes – They are the Vans ASPCA Cat shoes, they are amazing!! I got them on sale from Office and they came to ยฃ25 which is a bargin as I was considering paying full price (ยฃ51.99) for them!  I really like Vans as I can’t really wear shoes that aren’t flat as I get a lot of problems with my hips.

Next I got a few essentials from Boots which I have needed to pick up for the past week.

Cotton wool pads for skincare, oil absorbing sheets as these are a summer essential and I also got some cotton wool buds (not pictured).  I know these aren’t very interesting but I like to see what everyone else uses for their day to day items ๐Ÿ™‚

Next onto the best part – the Mac haul!

I got a Mac 263 angled eyeliner brush for applying gel eyeliner as my one I am using currently is a cheapy off eBay and it is loosing hairs RAPIDLY.

Secondly I got two Pro Longwear Paintpots, the first shade I got was Painterly (bottom shade) which is what I am going to use as an eyeshadow base/eye primer.  The second shade I got was Rubinesque (top shade), can we just have a moment of appreciation for this colour <3.  This is such a stunning colour and the camera doesn’t pick up how utterly beautiful the shine, reflect and vibrancy this gives off! I am going to have a play with this tomorrow and let you guys know what I come up with!

Finally I got a lipstick but this is a present for my mummy for her birthday (it’s on monday) so I can’t tell you what it is yet until she gets her present.

Last but not least I went to lush to see my sister who works there and ended up picking up the Love Soap (come on who can resist glitter and limited editions!)

This soap smells just like fizzbanger the bath bomb which is one of my favorites so I love the scent of this.  It’s really fresh and clean smelling too!

Last but not least a cheesy photo taken by my sister at the store to go on the Lush Nottingham instagram (i’m on instagram under the username @catsandcontours)

Lots of love

Cult Beauty Product // Smashbox Primer Water Review

Hi Guys!

The post today is something that I am hoping that I will be making a feature to post one of these every week.  I am going to be going through all my products and reviewing all the ‘cult’ beauty products, giving my honest opinions on them.

The first cult beauty product is going to be the Smashbox Primer Water (as you would have guessed from the title!) This is something I picked up a week or so ago as I have been wanting it for MONTHS.  Literally every time I went near a Smashbox counter I would go and spray myself with this product to make sure that I wouldn’t have a reaction and that I would use it once I finally decided to purchase it.

The price is the first and only negative about this product.  It is a little steep at the price of ยฃ20 but for that you get 116ml/3.9fl oz of ‘water’.  This is slightly more expensive than the Mac Fix+ which is ยฃ15.50 but you only get 100ml of product for that.

The smell is really plesent, there isn’t really much of a smell but it is really light and refreshing what smell is there.  If I were to describe the smell I would say it was very lightly floral smelling but overall it is only a mist of floral.

Once spraying on the face (following instruction – Spray 8″-10″ away from the face and mist evenly) it feels wet for a few seconds (but doesn’t make the makeup move) but then quickly evaporates and doesn’t leave any sort of film on the face.

The action of the product is initially as a primer for the skin which can be used before the foundation to prime it.  It also suggests that you can use it to set the makeup on your face once you have finished applying it – this is what I’ve been using it for and I find that it is amazing at keeping the makeup feeling light and in place all day.  The final suggestion for this product is that you can use it for touching up your face throughout the day to keep your face looking refreshed.  This isn’t something that I am interested in using it for as it gives a very dewy look to the skin and that isn’t something that I am interested in as I am naturally oily (and I don’t want to emphysize that for sure!)
I hope you enjoyed this review and I am looking forward to reviewing the next product for you!

Day Out // Makeup of the Day

Hi Guys!

So something a little bit different today, I’m sharing my day with you as well as my MOTD.  Today was my husbands birthday so we went out for dinner at a restaurant near us called The Wollaton, the food was amazing and the service was perfect.  If anyone is in the Wollaton area of Nottingham I would thoroughly recommed going there as the food is phenominal.

(Sorry for the non meat-eaters out there!!)

I wore a lovely dress from Elsies Attic which was lilac with birds all over it, along with a raspberry pink petticoat and heels in the same colour.  I actually just brought this for a friends wedding but I was so excited when it arrived today that I had to put it on straight away! ๐Ÿ™‚

Now for the MOTD bit of this post.  As it was Adams birthday today I gave him the choice in makeup and he chose blue (of course the colour that I have the least eyeshadows of!)

  •  Foundation – Estee Lauder Double Wear
  • Concealer – Mac Pro Longwear
  • Powder – Mac Prep and Prime translucent setting powder
  • Brows – Stila Stay All Day 24hr Brow
  • Eyeshadow – Naked 2 and MUA Blue Shadow
  • Eyeliner – Stila 24hr Waterproof eyeliner in Bora Bora and Lancome Artliner
  • Mascara – Benefit They’re Real
  • Lashes – Eylure Katy Perry Kapow and Duo Dark Lash Adhesive
  • Blush – Benefit Dandelion
  • Bronzer – Benefit Hoola
  • Highlighter – MUA Undressed
  • Lips – MAC Velvet Teddy and Wirl Lipliner

Next time I will go back to something I am more comfortable with as this is totally out of my comfort zone as I prefer neutrals and warmer toned looks.
