Morphe 35O Dupe Palette // Reviews

Hi Guys!

Todays post is going to be a review of a Morphe 35O dupe.  I’ve not been fortunate enough to manage to get hold of an official Morphe 35O palette so once I saw someone posting about this dupe I made sure I pick it up super quick (special thanks to Amazon Prime for that!)

This is the packaging for the palette.  It came in a black box the same as a Morphe palette but in my excitement I ripped it with the outer packaging (Oops!) The palette itself is slightly smaller than the original but the inside doesn’t disappoint.

15052184_10210766553544408_131308667_o.jpg

There is a large range of warm shades ranging from a light cream – perfect for highlighting, all the way to a dark burnt orange perfect for smoking the eye out.

15007974_10210766553184399_1323849408_o.jpg

The performance of the shadows don’t disappoint either, they’re super creamy with an amazing colour pay off.  The mattes are a TINY bit chalky and that’s only if I’m being really critical to find a flaw.

I purchased this palette for £11.95 and got next day delivery with my Amazon Prime account.  This is £9.80 cheaper than the morphe palette and certainly more accessible. (price taken from cult beauty of £21.75)

My overall view of this palette is that it’s an amazing bargain and will be investing in the other ones by the same brand.

Also here’s a picture of Hektor not enjoying the cold weather!15044849_10210766558184524_845851682_o.jpg

Budget Makeup Haul // November 2016

Hi Guys!

Just a quick notice to say thank you to all the support I’m getting recently, all the positive feedback and great comments.  I really appreciate them all! I hope you’ve all noticed too that I’ve got a proper URL now! So from now on it’ll be CatsandContours.com which is SUPER exciting!  I’ve also celebrated my 50th blog post and will be announcing a new contest in the next couple of days!

Today’s post as decided by the lovely people on my twitter (here) is going to be my new makeup haul from this month so far!  I’ve had a few bits from Superdrug and one item from Primark.  At the moment Superdrug is running a promotion of 3 for 2 on all makeup products and naturally I wanted to take advantage of this!

I’ll start with the stuff from Superdrug first:

14959077_10210694404340723_1987005192_o.jpg

First are these eye shadows from the brand Freedom which are super metallic and pigmented.  They remind me a lot of the MUG Foiled shadows and have a great payoff especially when using a spritz of Mac Fix+.

14954442_10210694402780684_1931952560_o.jpg14958215_10210694406580779_710401043_o.jpg

The first picture swatches of the shades I have (1, 2, 3 and 8), the first is taken without the flash and the second with the flash on.  They come in single pans for only £2 which are magnetic to fit it with any of your magnetic palettes – This leads onto my next product!

14958134_10210694404420725_1575137346_o.jpg

This is the Freedom Pro Artist Magnetic Palette.  It fits a fair few shadows in, it’s made of sturdy plastic with BIG mirror on one half of the palette and it was only £5!

14907790_10210694400100617_1516096433_o.jpg

Next up is this eye shadow by Makeup Revolution, it’s an “Eye foil” which mean that it has a very different texture to most other shadows – it’s an exact dupe of the Stila Magnificent Metals foiled eyeshadow.  They suggest mixing it with the eye that they provide in the tin, however I feel that it works best pressed straight onto the eyelid with a synthetic packing brush.  I already have the rose gold version of this and it creates a stunning finish.  This came in at a tiny £3!

14895658_10210694400500627_1503590551_o.jpg

Next up are these Freedom eyebrow pomades, I’m a firm believe that Anastasia Dipbrow is the BEST thing to ever happen to my brows ever but this is an EXACT dupe! I was skeptical on ordering it and a few of the reviews said that it ran a bit dark so I ordered my usual shade of Auburn and a slightly light Caramel Brown.  I didn’t find that they run dark and have found they lasts just as long as my dipbrow.  I never thought I’d say it but this has definitely replaced my Anastasia Beverly Hills dipbrow (£15) as it came in at a shocking £5 and it comes in 11 different shades!

14963469_10210694400460626_198570485_o.jpg

Next up is this beautiful cased rose gold lipstick in the shade Chauffeur which to be honest I only brought because the case was pretty and it was only £3 and it’s a SUPER creamy and pigmented formula.

Finally is one item from Primark which I picked up because it was super shiny! It’s just a super basic mirror to chuck in my handbag when I pop out anywhere.  This was reduced and was £1

I hope you guys enjoyed this post as much as I did writing it (and playing with the makeup!)

Also as a bonus here is a random cat picture!

September Wishlist // Beauty and Household!

Hi Guys

Today my post is going to my September wishlist, these are products and items that I would REALLY like this month and will probably either buy them or save up to buy them 🙂

Starting off with my personal favorite – Beauty!

Infinity+ Sparkle Eyeshadow

The Kiko Infinity and Sparkle Eyeshadows £2.80 here
I went into the new Kiko store in Nottingham today and found that the shadows in there are extremely pigmented, super smooth to the touch and had really good colour pay off.  I’m definetly going to be investing in a few ok maybe a dozen of these shadows this month!

Mac Lipstick in Stone £15.50 here
Need I say more, I’m sure most people in the Beauty Blogging world are familiar with the Mac Stone Matte Lipstick that Mac has just brought out.. GET ON MY LIPS! ❤

Oribe Dry Texturizing Spray £39 here
This hair spray is on a different level totally to anything else I have ever tried, I can’t even describe the volume:spray ratio and the smell is LOVELY! The only MAJOR downside is the price.. I don’t think that i’ll be purchasing this unless it goes into the sale but I am really lusting after this!

Now onto the Home Items
I’ve been looking at revamping my house as we’ve been living here for almost 3 years and I am getting a bit bored with the decor.

ALEX Drawer unit with 9 drawers IKEA High unit with many drawers means plenty of storage on a minimum of floor space.

Ikea Alex Draw Unit £90 here
The first item is the Ikea Alex Draw Unit, this would free up so much space in our bedroom and I could fill it with all my makeup 😉
Infact just let me free in Ikea and i’ll be content!

4 Tier Over-Door Storage Rack
Lakeland 4 Tier Over-Door Storage £24.99 here
My key aim is going to be to create more space where there was none before! This would be perfect in my bathroom as I currently don’t have any shelves in there (although i’d like to put one in!)

That’s it guys!
I know it was slightly different to my usual posts but let me know what you think?

I’m BACK! // A Few Makeup Looks!

Hi Guys!!

I’m BACK! I’ve taken a short break from this blog to have a bit of breathing space to myself, but I’m feeling on top of the world now and I’m planning on setting a proper schedule for blogging, I plan on blogging every Saturday and Tuesday and will be making sure that I’ve got lots of stuff lined up for you in the future 🙂

I’ve not been wearing as much makeup recently as I’ve been trying to give my skin a bit of a break.  I’ve been off work this week with a bad back so I’ve not been able to sit upright at my desk so I have a selection of looks from the last couple of weeks for you.

One exciting new product that i’m REALLY excited about doing a review for you for is the Anastasia Beverly Hill Dipbrow (in the shade auburn) along with the number 7 brush, (another in the series of cult beauty products) which I will be writing tomorrow.

Makeup of The Day // New Foundation!

Hi Guys,

Another apology is due, I’ve been super busy at work recently but I’m here this weekend!  This is going to be my first impression on a foundation that I’ve had in my draws for a while but haven’t used.  It’s the Benefit Better Than BB cream.  I have it in the shade 01 fair (naturally as I’m pale as a ghost).  The coverage is very light being a BB cream but still covers up the majority of big imperfections.  I’m enjoying using this foundation as I’m finding the weather a little too hot for my double wear.

The foundation goes on as a cream but then turns to a light powder on the skin so doesn’t need much setting, I just set it with some Mac Prep and Prime translucent setting powder in my T zone as I’m oily.

Sorry for my eyebrows… I’m getting them done this week hopefully if my eyebrow stylist can get me in! 🙂

This is a very simple look using the Naked 3 palette as I’m stuck on the sofa with a pulled back today but wanted to get ready to make myself feel a bit better 🙂

I hope you are all having a lovely weekend and wherever you are it is sunny and bright!

Hit or Miss? // Dainty Doll Concealer

Hi guys!

Today’s post is on a new concealer I’ve gotten.  As a ginger, pale skinned person, I find that finding a concealer which actually highlights the skin tone (for under the eyes etc) a really hard prospect. However when I saw that there was a brand called Dainty Doll, designed for fair skinned people I snatched up the opportunity to try this concealer.

The brand itself doesn’t exist anymore I don’t believe but I found this on a beauty site for half price (they were having a stock clearance)

image

The packaging is super cute and I love the little ginger afro!

image

The concealer itself is in a click pen style applicator which makes for easy application.

Unfortunately this is where the good about this product stops.  It took me a good few minutes of clicking to get any product to advance up into the brush and when it did it was a very oily constituency.

image

This is quite a lot of product applied to the back of my hand and it is still quite translucent. I got the shade 01 which was the lightest however I feel that it wasn’t that much lighter than my usual NC15 Mac pro longwear concealer.

Once I blended it out on my hand there was nothing left, I tried with a beauty blender and then with a brush but the same thing happened with both applications.  The product got absorbed straight into the skin, leaving a greasy residue on the surface and providing no coverage.

So this product is a massive miss!!

Vegan Beauty Products // Lush Products!

Hi Guys!

Todays post is a little review on a few Lush products that i’ve either had a little while or gotten recently, the one that i’ve had a while is the Mask of Magnaminty which is one of my favorite products from lush as you’ll see below!

As most people know Lush does a lot of amazing projects for the community and enviroment, one of these is that they have a zero tollerance on Animal Testing and most of their products are vegan friendly.

Don’t forget to enter the giveaway that i’m currently running for a Mac Lipstick!

Anyway lets get started with the reviews:

Jason and the Argon Oil – Shampoo Bar

I love shampoo bars from lush, they are so easy to use, don’t take up much storage and they last for up to 80 washes! This is the 2nd Shampoo bar that i’ve tried from Lush and it’s my favorite for sure! It smells lovely and because it is infused with Argon Oil – it makes you hair feel lovely and soft for days after.

Mask of Magnaminty – Face and Body Mask

This is a repurchase of mine – as you can see there isn’t much left in this pot and i’ve been scraping around the bottom trying to get the last bit out before I wash my pot out.  I use this mask once a week to keep ontop of the nasty face demons (spots and blemishes) that plague my skin! It’s such a refreshing scent (you can probably guess it’s minty!) and really wakes you up in the morning.  As it is suitable for the body, if you get any back achne etc it would probably help! 🙂

Karma Kream – Hand and Body Lotion

This is a really amazing product for me, as a Veterinary Nurse I am always using my hands for work which means that I’m having to wash them every 10minutes or more.  This smells gorgeous and it lasts on the skin rather than just vanishing as soon as you rub it in.  I’ve noticed a massive difference in my hands the past week that i’ve been using it and really recommend it to anyone who works with their hands.

Dark Angels – Face Mask

This facemask is very exfoliating, I do not recommend this to anyone with sensitive skin! I however do not have sensitive skin and love a good exfoliator which I can feel working right down into my pores!  This is a black putty which you add water to to make it into a paste to put onto the face.  I use this once a week in the shower (it’s very messy!!!) and love the way that it makes my skin feel.

Love – Soap

Finally is this bar of soap I got on Saturday (ft. in the haul below)  This smells just like the fizzbanger bath bomb and is lovely! I’m too scared to use this yet as I don’t really want to rub off the glitter (and I want it to still look pretty!) “In 76 countries it is a crime to be gay.  In 10 countries it can cost you your life” this is taken from the Lush Nottingham page.  100% of the proceeds from this soap go towards LGBTQ Communities all around the world to help fight the stigma and hate associated with being ‘gay’.

I hope you enjoyed todays post on my Lush products that i’m currently using, have a bonus kitten from work yesterday! He’s called Harry and is being fostered by one of our other nurses Lucy as they were dumped at only a few weeks old.  She’s doing an amazing job and they are turning into right sweetie pies!! (SO hard to resist!!!)

June Favorites // Makeup, Hair Products and More!

Hi Guys!

I can’t believe it’s this time already, time for my favorites of the month! This means that I’ve been running my blog for a month already, time flies when you’re having fun!

So this month I have mainly beauty products but there are a few bits of both hair products and others so lets start with the makeup! ❤

Firstly there is the Anastasia Beverly Hills Liquid Lipstick in Craft, this is the most beautiful coloured lip product that i’ve ever used, so unique! The formulation is so creamy to put on and the larger doe foot applicator makes the application process really easy.  I don’t need to rave any more about this product because I just think it’s wonderful!

Secondly is the Smashbox Photofinish Primer Water, this is another amazing product that i’ve recently done a review on, this is such a refreshing products as it doesn’t leave any film on the skin like any other products that claim to set the product on the skin.  I am really enjoying using the product and find that it really is worthy of its cult beauty item claim!

Next is the Becca Shimmering Skin Perfector in Moonstone, this highlight is LIFE, talk about highlight on fleeeeek.  This is going to be my next product in the Cult Beauty Product reviews but this is such an amazing highlight, I would recommend this shade to any skintones!

Next is a brush set that I got on eBay at the begining of the month, I believe these brushes were under £2 including delivery.  They did take a while to come as they came from China but they were worth the wait for sure, they are supposed to be a dupe for sigma brushes which are really popular amongst beauty bloggers!  I’m really enjoying using these brushes as they blend the products on the lid wonderfully!

The next product is the Ojon Rare Blend Tamer, this is a hair “mascara” in the sense that it is applied with a mascara wand, this a repurchase of mine as I brought it last year for use at my wedding.  It is gently applied to the roots of the hair where there is ‘flyaway’ hairs and smoothed down, it really helps with my frizz as I have naturally curly hair!

That’s it all done with my beauty favorites of the month, now onto my non beauty related products.

I brought these cat vans yesterday and I am IN LOVE (naturally as i’m cat obsessed!) I have wanted these shoes ever since they came out and when I saw that they were half price at Office, I had to buy them without even trying them on!

Next is this floral bag that my Dad brought me, It’s a really perfect size for carrying my work stuff and college books in with extra room for putting my lunch in! I think this is going to be my staple bag for work this summer! 😀

Finally is my veterinary anatomy and physiology text book, yes I know I’m a nerd but I’m really enjoying going through my book for revision every spare moment that I’m getting (when i’m not writing my blog 😉 )  I find that I revise best going through my text book in a local order highlighting key points and quizzing myself as I go along!  I’m sitting my exam on the 16th July (I’m so nervous!!!) so hopefully all my revision will pay off!

Okay so that concludes my favorites for the month, I hope you enjoyed this post!  I’d love to know what your favorites are from this month and/or if you own any of these items yourself!

Haul Time! // Mac, Lush and Office!

Hi Guys

Today I went shopping with my husband to Nottingham to get some bits (although I didn’t come away with what I actually went in for!) I got a few bits from Mac that I have been eyeing up for ages, along with some shoes with are AMAZING!

(Hektor helping me take photos!)

Starting with my shoes – They are the Vans ASPCA Cat shoes, they are amazing!! I got them on sale from Office and they came to £25 which is a bargin as I was considering paying full price (£51.99) for them!  I really like Vans as I can’t really wear shoes that aren’t flat as I get a lot of problems with my hips.

Next I got a few essentials from Boots which I have needed to pick up for the past week.

Cotton wool pads for skincare, oil absorbing sheets as these are a summer essential and I also got some cotton wool buds (not pictured).  I know these aren’t very interesting but I like to see what everyone else uses for their day to day items 🙂

Next onto the best part – the Mac haul!

I got a Mac 263 angled eyeliner brush for applying gel eyeliner as my one I am using currently is a cheapy off eBay and it is loosing hairs RAPIDLY.

Secondly I got two Pro Longwear Paintpots, the first shade I got was Painterly (bottom shade) which is what I am going to use as an eyeshadow base/eye primer.  The second shade I got was Rubinesque (top shade), can we just have a moment of appreciation for this colour <3.  This is such a stunning colour and the camera doesn’t pick up how utterly beautiful the shine, reflect and vibrancy this gives off! I am going to have a play with this tomorrow and let you guys know what I come up with!

Finally I got a lipstick but this is a present for my mummy for her birthday (it’s on monday) so I can’t tell you what it is yet until she gets her present.

Last but not least I went to lush to see my sister who works there and ended up picking up the Love Soap (come on who can resist glitter and limited editions!)

This soap smells just like fizzbanger the bath bomb which is one of my favorites so I love the scent of this.  It’s really fresh and clean smelling too!

Last but not least a cheesy photo taken by my sister at the store to go on the Lush Nottingham instagram (i’m on instagram under the username @catsandcontours)

Lots of love
