Life Update // Jan 2016

life-update

Hi Guys!

Thought I’d check in and do a little update, I’ve got a review coming your way in a couple of days for the Urban Decay All Nighter Foundation and Setting Spray.

My new year has been totally hectic and I’ve been thinking about which way I want to take my blog.  Although I love beauty, with my exams around the corner I have had to put the blog on the back burner and I’d like to apologise for that.

Today I thought I’d give you a little update on what has happened the past few week in my life (apart from studying).  I’ve spent the vast majority of my life at work and studying for my final exam but yesterday I managed to get out and go into Nottingham.

Yesterday, the first thing I did was to go have my hair cut.  It was LONG overdue and my split ends were getting worse and worse.  I decided to go crazy and have a HUGE change and got my hair cut super short.

I LOVE my new hair and would love to hear some opinions on hair styling products (I am totally clueless!)

Here’s a super scary picture of most of the hair chopped off!

Another exciting thing that has happened is that I bought myself an Amazon Echo (treat yo’ self) which is proving to be an excellent purchase!  It has a stunning design and wouldn’t look out of place in even the most tidy of houses.

I would recommend an Amazon Echo to any tech savvy people, I’m planning on investing in the Phillip Hue lighting system next so that I will be able to control my lights through the Echo.

Finally here’s a few makeup looks that I did last week before I had all my hair chopped off!

Lots of love

New year goals! // 2017!

new-year

Happy new year everyone! I know it’s a touch late (it’s almost half way through January already!) but I’ve worked all the holidays and I’m very much looking forward to having next week off work.

Last year I set myself a new years resolution to read a book every month throughout the year which wasn’t a textbook.  I always loved reading but because of studying I found myself reaching for textbooks and medical journals over anything else.  I accomplished my resolution and even read more than my one book per month.  My favourite book for the year  (series actually) were the Throne of Glass novels which are a series of YA (young adult) books which were really easy to read and not something that required much brain power after being at work all day.

I’ve set myself a few new goals for this year, as well as trying to upkeep my record of one book per month.  I am sitting my final examinations to become a registered veterinary nurse in March (terrifying thought that they’re super close) and this is my main objective for the year!  I’m going to also be trying to cut down on the amount of makeup I buy (yes, I’m being serious) and going to only be replacing the products that I have used up, for example; if I want to try a new foundation, I have to use up the foundation I have already got.  I’m not going to uphold the rule for lipsticks/lip products because that would be crazy!

I’m going to try and do monthly empties posts with updates of what I’ve used through, my review, and what I’m going to/have replaced it with.

I’m going to be moving my blog towards more of a beauty crossed with lifestyle blogging page, I feel myself changing and want to adapt my blog to move along with me.

I hope you’ve had wonderful holidays no matter whether you celebrate them!

Starskin Detox Face Mask // Review

Hi Guys!

This post is going to be a review on a facemask that I was sent by Starskin Beauty in return for a review.  I wouldn’t ever blog about anything that I didn’t love – or if I did, I’d make it very clear.

The face mask is the “Master Cleanser Detox Sea Kelp Leaf Face Mask” which is a mouthful to say the least so I’ve named it the Detox Mask.

My face mask came in a little pack with instruction on back with how to use it (which was super easy) along with all of the information regarding the product itself.

Inside the little packet was the mask itself, a little sachet of the sea kelp cleanser and some further instructions and ingredients.  On the back of the packaging it says that it works best on cleansed skin – ideally using their sea kelp cleanser.

I used the cleanser provided which was a delight and left my skin feeling very clean, my makeup removed and no residue left on my face.  Then I followed the instructions and placed the mask on my face with the bottom part being placed on first then the top and all air bubbles pressed out.

I left the mask on for fifteen minutes as suggested then removed and massaged the remaining serum left on my face into my skin.  If I were to use the mask in the morning I would wipe my face with a flannel but as I’m going to bed I want all the benefits of the product!

After having the face mask on my skin feels tighter, less red and my pores are almost invisible.  Overall this facemask is an amazing product which I will definitely be purchasing this for myself even if it’s just for a treat (it retails at £12.50 on beautybay).

Let me know if you’ve tried any other face masks that you think I should check out!

Autumn Essentials // 2016

Hi Guys!

Todays post is going to be my autumn essentials this year, please let me know what you think of them in the comments, do we share are favourite products?

14895658_10210694400500627_1503590551_o

The first product is the freedom brow pomade, I’ve been using both the shades auburn and caramel brown to create a faded brow and have been loving it, even better is its waterproof and really withstands the rain (which in England is a big part of Autumn!)

Next is the Lancôme ‘Hydra Zen Neurocalm’ anti stress moisturising cream, I find that although I have oily skin the colder weather and fluctuating temperatures really dry out some places on my face and neck making them sensitive.  I slather my face in this cream every evening and wake up feeling very hydrated.

Next is this handy pot of Vaseline, it’s got a really nice scent to it which isn’t overpowering and fits right in the pocket.  I don’t need to explain Vaseline to you because it’s such a basic product 🙂

Sugar Plum Fairy lip scrub

Next is another lip item, Sugar Plum Fairy lip scrub by LUSH is great for making sure your lips stay in tip-top condition through all the cold wind and rain.  It tastes GREAT and does a great job.

Snow Fairy body conditioner

Another LUSH product I’ve been LOVING this month (thanks to my sister getting me loads of goodies for my birthday) is the Snow Fairy body conditioner.  This is used last thing in the shower just before getting out and it leaves an oily film on the skin which is quickly absorbed leaving my skin feeling hydrated and moisturised – and that’s before talking about the scent. I love snow fairy!!

Image result for hand food

The Soap and Glory hand food has been my go to hand cream for the past few years when the colder seasons roll around.  It smells lovely and absorbs quickly into the skin which is perfect in a job like mine!

That’s it for my autumn essentials, there seems to be a trend going that all my products (bar the eyebrow product) aim to moisturise me! Do we share any essential products?

Day Out // Makeup of the Day

Hi Guys!

So something a little bit different today, I’m sharing my day with you as well as my MOTD.  Today was my husbands birthday so we went out for dinner at a restaurant near us called The Wollaton, the food was amazing and the service was perfect.  If anyone is in the Wollaton area of Nottingham I would thoroughly recommed going there as the food is phenominal.

(Sorry for the non meat-eaters out there!!)

I wore a lovely dress from Elsies Attic which was lilac with birds all over it, along with a raspberry pink petticoat and heels in the same colour.  I actually just brought this for a friends wedding but I was so excited when it arrived today that I had to put it on straight away! 🙂

Now for the MOTD bit of this post.  As it was Adams birthday today I gave him the choice in makeup and he chose blue (of course the colour that I have the least eyeshadows of!)

  •  Foundation – Estee Lauder Double Wear
  • Concealer – Mac Pro Longwear
  • Powder – Mac Prep and Prime translucent setting powder
  • Brows – Stila Stay All Day 24hr Brow
  • Eyeshadow – Naked 2 and MUA Blue Shadow
  • Eyeliner – Stila 24hr Waterproof eyeliner in Bora Bora and Lancome Artliner
  • Mascara – Benefit They’re Real
  • Lashes – Eylure Katy Perry Kapow and Duo Dark Lash Adhesive
  • Blush – Benefit Dandelion
  • Bronzer – Benefit Hoola
  • Highlighter – MUA Undressed
  • Lips – MAC Velvet Teddy and Wirl Lipliner

Next time I will go back to something I am more comfortable with as this is totally out of my comfort zone as I prefer neutrals and warmer toned looks.
