Last week I was invited along to the Roxy Ball Room Nottingham opening event, Roxy Ball Room is located above MOJO in Hockley and is really easy to find.
Upon arriving at Roxy, I was pleasantly surprised with the interior designing, it had an upbeat and retro vibe to the place – whilst still feeling laid back, somewhere that you could have a good time with friends.
Around the room were games tables of all different varieties – from ping pong to beer pong! There were also booths to sit down and have a drink and chat with your friends. This gets me onto the music – THE MUSIC! From Blink-182 to Eminem, the sound track to the evening was perfect and filled with such nostalgia from an amazing time of my life – think coloured skinny jeans and studded belts era!
We had the opportunity to sample the menus, there were several different cocktails available – my favourite being the Ballzee Move which was their take on the strawberry daiquiri which was perfect alongside their wonderful food, from deliciously gooey pizza to excellently seasoned chicken burgers they had something to suit everyone – those garlic dough balls were on a totally different level of awesome.
My favourite part of the evening, however, was the photobooth which really made me laugh! After a few drinks (Oops!) we clambered into the TINY photobooth and took some very squashed – but fully photos!
I’d recommend going to the Roxy Ball Room to any of my friends and would love to even go back with my work colleagues for a team night out!
Saturday I was fortunate enough to be invited to the spring/summer 2017 fashion event at Intu Victoria Centre as part of the Nottingham Fashion Week. We met up at Cafe Rizzoli where we were greeted by the owner of the chain who as last time, gave us impeccable service. We enjoyed a Bellini and truffles in the sunshine and had a good natter before heading down to where the main event was being held (outside boots).
We were lead down to the main foyer, where we treated to a fashion show. I appreciated the thought behind the show as they showed different body types, ways to dress up/down outfits to save money, and different styles. The trends this season are right up my alley with embroidery, denim, ruffles, and chokers all key pieces this season!
There were “paparazzi” around the centre taking snaps of everyone in the centre who were dressed up (very stylishly may I add!). I managed to snap these couple of picture of them!
After the fashion show, we were set a challenge to find items that matched a theme we were given, my theme was seeing red. I picked up a lovely red choker style t-shirt in Topshop by the brand Tea and Cake which is super cool! I also picked up some sparkly Toms which were amazing as my feet were suffering a bit after wearing heels all day.
After our style challenge we were taken out for food at Handmade Burger Co, this is the only part of the event I was a little disappointed in. The food took a long time to come out and was cold when it arrived, the drink orders kept being messed up, and the servers didn’t seem to know what was going on.
I appreciate the generosity from the Intu Victoria Centre staff as they again pulled out all the stops for us bloggers. I’d like to say special thanks to media team and cartwright communications for holding such wonderful events for us bloggers.
Thought I’d check in and do a little update, I’ve got a review coming your way in a couple of days for the Urban Decay All Nighter Foundation and Setting Spray.
My new year has been totally hectic and I’ve been thinking about which way I want to take my blog. Although I love beauty, with my exams around the corner I have had to put the blog on the back burner and I’d like to apologise for that.
Today I thought I’d give you a little update on what has happened the past few week in my life (apart from studying). I’ve spent the vast majority of my life at work and studying for my final exam but yesterday I managed to get out and go into Nottingham.
Yesterday, the first thing I did was to go have my hair cut. It was LONG overdue and my split ends were getting worse and worse. I decided to go crazy and have a HUGE change and got my hair cut super short.
I LOVE my new hair and would love to hear some opinions on hair styling products (I am totally clueless!)
Another exciting thing that has happened is that I bought myself an Amazon Echo (treat yo’ self) which is proving to be an excellent purchase! It has a stunning design and wouldn’t look out of place in even the most tidy of houses.
I would recommend an Amazon Echo to any tech savvy people, I’m planning on investing in the Phillip Hue lighting system next so that I will be able to control my lights through the Echo.
Finally here’s a few makeup looks that I did last week before I had all my hair chopped off!
Happy new year everyone! I know it’s a touch late (it’s almost half way through January already!) but I’ve worked all the holidays and I’m very much looking forward to having next week off work.
Last year I set myself a new years resolution to read a book every month throughout the year which wasn’t a textbook. I always loved reading but because of studying I found myself reaching for textbooks and medical journals over anything else. I accomplished my resolution and even read more than my one book per month. My favourite book for the year (series actually) were the Throne of Glass novels which are a series of YA (young adult) books which were really easy to read and not something that required much brain power after being at work all day.
I’ve set myself a few new goals for this year, as well as trying to upkeep my record of one book per month. I am sitting my final examinations to become a registered veterinary nurse in March (terrifying thought that they’re super close) and this is my main objective for the year! I’m going to also be trying to cut down on the amount of makeup I buy (yes, I’m being serious) and going to only be replacing the products that I have used up, for example; if I want to try a new foundation, I have to use up the foundation I have already got. I’m not going to uphold the rule for lipsticks/lip products because that would be crazy!
I’m going to try and do monthly empties posts with updates of what I’ve used through, my review, and what I’m going to/have replaced it with.
I’m going to be moving my blog towards more of a beauty crossed with lifestyle blogging page, I feel myself changing and want to adapt my blog to move along with me.
I hope you’ve had wonderful holidays no matter whether you celebrate them!
This is Markus, excuse my clothes on the radiator behind but he’s totally adorable!
I hope you are well! I’ve just handed in my final two assignments for my course and my final written exam is next week – I finally feel like it’s coming to the end!
Today’s post is going to about the other day (Monday to be exact) where Intu Victoria Centre held a Christmas bloggers event.
I had a fantastic time and saw some lovely friendly faces.
Firstly we were greeted with a super tasty cocktail from Thaikhun (which is my favourite restaurant EVER) and seated in an area in the upper mall.
We were then introduced to a company called supersuper which had Christmas jumper crafting for us to do – Check them out here!
We also had some beyond awesome “Froyo” from the Sloane Brothers who have a little stall downstairs.
Overall I had a great evening, there was an option to go play a game on the HTC Vive VR Headset about decorating a Christmas tree but I had work early the following morning so opted for an early night.
At the end of the evening, we were given a generous goodie bag, full of samples – my personal favourite of these was the Charlotte Tilbury perfume!
So something a little bit different today, I’m sharing my day with you as well as my MOTD. Today was my husbands birthday so we went out for dinner at a restaurant near us called The Wollaton, the food was amazing and the service was perfect. If anyone is in the Wollaton area of Nottingham I would thoroughly recommed going there as the food is phenominal.
(Sorry for the non meat-eaters out there!!)
I wore a lovely dress from Elsies Attic which was lilac with birds all over it, along with a raspberry pink petticoat and heels in the same colour. I actually just brought this for a friends wedding but I was so excited when it arrived today that I had to put it on straight away! 🙂
Now for the MOTD bit of this post. As it was Adams birthday today I gave him the choice in makeup and he chose blue (of course the colour that I have the least eyeshadows of!)
