My Skincare Routine // 2016

This post is going on be on my current skincare routine, as with everything it’s constantly changing as I find new products and adapt it to my needs.  Just because a product works great for me, doesn’t mean it’ll work for you as my skin type is combination to oily and isn’t sensitive at all.

Starting off with a fresh face every morning, I always use my Garnier Miceller water for combination sensitive skin, I find that this just freshens my face up and removes any residue of makeup that I haven’t managed to get off my face the night before.

Next, I use the Nip+Fab Glycolic Fix daily cleansing pads to gently exfoliate and tone my skin.  These have worked wonders for my skin and I’m finding that they have made a massive difference in the softness of my skin.  IMG_0770.JPG

Then I use my Olay complete moisturiser, this is a very light-weight moisturiser and is designed especially for normal to oily skin.  I find that it absorbs quickly into the skin and doesn’t leave any residue nor disturb my foundation.

At the end of the day I again use the Garnier Micellar water to remove my makeup and if I’m wearing any stubborn eyeshadow, waterproof eye makeup, or any false eyelashes, I use the simple duel effect eye makeup remover which as it is oil based, removes anything that I would usually have to scrub to remove with ease.

Alternating every other night I use my Nip+Fab Glycolic fix extreme night pads with the daily pads as recommended.  These are a little bit harsher on the skin and aren’t really recommended for use with sensitive skin.

After cleansing my face I make sure that my lips are ready for the next day by using a lip scrub from LUSH (they taste AMAZING) and then smothering them in vaseline.  I’ve been doing this for years and have never had any problems with my lips getting chapped or sore in the winter.

Luckily I don’t have any major problems with my skin apart from the odd hormonal spot and find that these products work really well.  When I’m in the shower I use the clean and clear exfoliating daily wash which I have used for years (I think since teenage years!) however I want to change to a product without microbeads, does anyone have any suggestions?

I’m still trying to figure out how to use my new camera properly but so far I’m really loving the picture quality.  I’m hoping to purchase a light box after Christmas to even better ones!

Sexy Mother Pucker // Review // MOTD and my first MUA experience?!

Hi Guys!!

So some good news first! I will be able to post much more now as I don’t have to revise anymore… I PASSED MY EXAM! Which means onwards and upwards to the second year 😀

This post is going to be a few different things in one, a MOTD that I did on Thursday, a review on a new lip gloss I got on Thursday and also a sneak preview into my first MUA experience which I’m going to do a whole post about a little later on.

Starting off with the review.  My lovely husband got me a lip gloss on Thursday which is the Soap and Glory’s “Sexy Mother Pucker” in the shade “Pink Apricot” (here)

11721358_10207056256869310_676655768_n 11741879_10207056256949312_286549947_n

I’m not one for lip glosses but I was super curious about this as it’s made by Soap and Glory as I love their products.  The colour is very translucent on the lips and gives a wash of a pinky-peach, If I was to wear this out I would pair it with a lipstick underneath.  The swatches below are without any other lip products on.

11750811_10207056257269320_871743794_o 11750024_10207056257149317_1388898068_o

I found that the product did “plump” my lips as described but not a great deal.  The stinging isn’t unpleasant more of a tingling unlike some other products that claim to do the same “plumping” action.

Overall this is a nice lip gloss and I will definitely be trying it out with some other lipsticks underneath in the weeks to come.

The second part of this post is my MOTD,  I went for a very glittery-shimmery look compared to my usual matte preference but I decided I wanted something with the wow factor for the day of my exam to make me feel better.

  • Concealer – Mac Pro Longwear
  • Powder – Mac Prep and Prime translucent setting powder
  • Bronzer – Benefit Perfect 10 and Hoola

I hope you enjoy this makeup look, it’s quite bold for the every day but paired with a nude lip I think it makes it wearable in the day time.

Finally a sneak peek of my first MUA experience, one of my beautiful best friends asked me to do the makeup for her wedding, here’s a quick photo of the blushing bride (*hint* to the colours we used)

I can’t wait to see some more photos of her as I didn’t manage to get any on the day myself as I had a phone malfunction!

Hope you enjoyed this post and you are all having a great weekend.

First Impression // Review // Budget Makeup Brushes

Hi Guys!

So this is the first post in a series of budget makeup and accessories!  This first post is a set of makeup brushes which are supposed to be good dupes for the sigma brushes, from an eBay seller in the UK.  They were £5.99 including postage for 10 brushes which in my opinion is a good bargain.

all together

This is them as they came packaged up, I took great self restraint to take photos before I got stuck in and started using them.

face brushes

As you can see there are various different sizes of kabuki brushes, including flat and round topped.  My favorite is the flat topped one which is a dupe of the sigma F80, I’ve been using this nonstop since I got it to apply my foundation with an amazing airbrushed finish.

Next are the eye brushes, they again are in various different kabuki styles including fluffy, flat and round topped.  They are really good at blending out eyeshadow especially in the crease for a flawless makeup look.

Overall these are fantastic brushes and I can’t sing their praises enough, I am definitely going to be ordering another set as you can never have enough blending brushes!

I hope you enjoyed this review and let me know your impressions if you end up buying some of these brushes!

Budget Liquid Lipstick Review

Hi Guys

I don’t know about you but I sure do love to find bargins on the internet (maybe a little too much!).  So when I saw these lipsticks on eBay for £1 each I sure had to give them a go.  I hope you enjoy this review and hope it helps you in trying out new products.  These are liquid lipstick which go on like a gloss but dry to a matte finish, they have their advantages and disadvantages as I will explain below.  If you do a quick eBay search for liquid lipsticks you should be able to find these ones, sadly the seller I got mine from is no longer selling them.

Colours –

Swatches –

Advantages –

Obviously the price is a great advantage, for £1 is not very expensive, even if its for a couple of uses before branching out to a higher quality alternative this product is great.  Another advantage is that once they’re on, they’re going to be there for quite a while, I wouldn’t go as far as saying that they had the potential to stay on all day but they certainly stayed on my arm for atleast 5 hours without disruption.  The wand applicator is great with a little doe foot on the end allowing for easy application.

Disadvantages –

On the arm they’re really set down into the skin, however when I applied them to my lips I found that they always remained slightly tacky which doesn’t bother me personally but if you’re someone that likes products to be really matte and smooth on the lips I wouldn’t go for these.  Another disadvantage is that I found that they didn’t smell very nice, they smelt rather chemically? I love the smell of Mac lipsticks so I presume i’ve been spoilt by such lovely smelling ones!

To conclude I think these lipsticks are great if you’re on a budget, trying out a new shade before fully commiting to a higher end product or just getting into makeup, however if you have the cash to splash there are plenty of other great liquid lipsticks out there which are heaps better.

Hope you all had a lovely day!

Budget and High End Haul!

Hi Guys,

Today I went out on a lady date with my beautiful best friend Elle, we went shopping and out to dinner.  I got loads of different products from Superdrug and one product from Space.NK. I’ll be doing a makeup of the day post later but this is my haul post!

Starting with the high end product I got today, this is the shimmering skin perfector by Becca Cosmetics.  I have been lusting after this highlighter for months after seeing it being used by a YouTuber, It finally came back into stock at my local store and picked it up today.  I got the shade Moonstone as I’m very pale and it gives a lovely gold highlight.

This picture really doesn’t do it the justice it deserves, its so beautiful and super pigmented.  THe powder is so finely milled it feels super lightweight on the skin.  The packaging is so pretty too, this is really worth the money!

Now onto the Drug Store Haul!

I’m going to go through these at a later blog once I have time to test them and get an opinion on them but here is a list of what I got:

Makeup Acadamy (MUA) Matte Perfect Loose Setting Powder in the shade Translucent

Makeup Acadamy (MUA) Undress your skin shimmering highlight in the shade Iridescent Gold

Makeup Acadamy (MUA) Brow Define, Tinted Brow Mascara in the shade Mid Brown and Dark Brown

Makeup Acadamy (MUA) Luxe Whipped Velvet Blush in the shade Rococo

Revolution Vivid Baked Highlighter in the shade Peach Lights

Revolution Awesome Metals Foil Finish Eyeshadow in the shade Rose Gold

I look forward to testing these products and hopefully getting some good reviews for everyone, who doesn’t like a budget product! 😀
